ARCHER GETTING HOT AT THE RIGHT TIME

PETERSBURG, Va., (Mar. 28, 2016) – After starting the season slowly, sophomore Amanda Archer is rapidly turning into a power hitter that opposing pitchers won’t want to face down the stretch.

In consecutive weekends, Archer bombed home runs that led to RBC victories. This past Saturday, her two-run blast in the bottom of the sixth inning tied the game 2-2 against Patrick Henry Community College, which the Statesmen eventually won the bottom of the ninth, 3-2. In the second game of the doubleheader, Archer pounded a double to left field in the bottom of the second inning, leading to a 2-0 RBC lead. The Statesmen won the nightcap 3-2.

Archer went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI over the weekend and for her performance in the two-game sweep over Patrick Henry, she is the RBC Student-Athlete of the Week.
For the season, Archer is hitting .281 and is second on the team in slugging percentage at .404.
A 2014 graduate of Amelia High School in Amelia, VA., Archer earned four letters in softball and was an All-Conference and All-Region selection.
