CLEMENTS DISPLAYS BIG BAT AT JUCO CLASSIC

PETERSBURG, Va., (Feb. 1, 2016) – Back from the JUCO Kickoff Classic with valuable experiences under its belt, the Richard Bland College softball team will begin the 2016 season in earnest on Feb. 21 knowing that it can count on the offensive production from sophomore Whitney Clements.

 

In the seven games played in Clearwater, Florida, Clements hit .435, going 10 for 23 at the plate.

 

For her performance at the JUCO Kickoff Classic, she is the RBC Student Athlete of the Week.

 

In addition to her potent batting average, Clements had five RBI and a .937 on base percentage. Her slugging percentage was .478. She went 3-for-4 against Chipola and had two hits versus State College of Florida, Pasco-Hernando State College and College of Central Florida.

 

After a three week break, the Statesmen resume play at Florence-Darlington Technical College in double header play on Feb. 20.

 

Clements is a 2014 graduate of Prince George High School in Prince George, VA, where she earned four varsity letters in softball. She was an All-Conference selection all four years and earned All-Region accolades her sophomore and junior years. Most impressively, she was an All-State selection as a senior.
