Alexia Spencer - The All-Around Student-Athlete

As the Richard Bland College of William & Mary women’s soccer team continues to impress and exceed all first-year expectations, first-year forward Alexia Spencer has led the Statesmen as a dynamic player on the field. Through 11 games, Spencer has scored 18 of RBC’s 32 goals while converting more than half her shots as goals. Any time Spencer has the ball at her feet, she is a threat to make something exciting happen. She possesses that rare athletic extra gear that allows her to weave through a maze of defenders, and with pinpoint precision attacks the goal adeptly with either foot.

A native of Midlothian, VA who was homeschooled before arriving at Richard Bland, Spencer is as dedicated in the classroom as she is on the field.

“Alexia is the true definition of a well-rounded athlete,” says assistant women’s soccer coach Meghan Mauzy. “Not only is she a leader on the field, she is also a leader in the classroom. Alexia always strives to do her best in all aspects of her life. We are proud to have her as a member of our program and a student at the College.”

Richard Bland currently sits in the middle of the pack in Region X as the team moves into the Region X Championship as the No. 5 seed. The Statesmen will face No. 4 seed Wake Tech in the opening round on Monday, Oct. 28 at 2 pm. Women’s soccer looks to be in a good position for now and the future.
