STATESMAN HALL HOME FOR THE NEWLY ANNOUNCED PETERSBURG REVOLUTION

PETERSBURG, VA., (Nov. 11, 2015) – There’s a new team in town.

At a press conference held today at Statesman Hall on the campus of Richard Bland College, the East Coast Basketball League (ECBL) welcomed its newest member, the Petersburg Revolution.

The game day court for the Revolution games will be Statesmen Hall, home of the defending NJCAA Division II national champion RBC basketball team. The ECBL begins its season in March and extends into June.

“We are excited to be a partner with the Petersburg Revolution, its administration, coaching staff, players and what we know will be a strong fan base,” said Chuck Moore, Director of Athletics and Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Richard Bland. “The city currently has a new image campaign, ‘I Am Petersburg,’ and the Revolution fits perfectly into this exciting time for the community and city.”

“We are honored and blessed to be part of the Richard Bland family,” said Bill Slaughter, General Manager of the Petersburg Revolution. “We look forward to the Revolution, led by head coach Jill Dunn, playing our games at Richard Bland."

In head coach Dunn, the Revolution has an experienced and successful leader of more than 20 years coaching, most prominently at Jacksonville University, where she led the Dolphins to a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances and three Atlantic Sun Conference titles.

During her tenure at Jacksonville, Dunn coached 20 All-Conference players and the Atlantic Sun Player of the Year. Her teams set more than 25 school records, including having the first-ever Atlantic Sun Defensive Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year. Dunn also coached at Miami (OH), Western Carolina and was an assistant at South Carolina. She was a star player at her alma mater, Georgia Southern, where she is a member of the school’s Athletics Hall of Fame.

The East Coast Basketball League is a Spring League and the season runs between March and June.  The Revolution will be in the Northern Division with teams from Fayetteville, Anson, Winston Salem, High Point and Lumberton in North Carolina. The Southern Division consists of Fort Mill, Greenville (two teams) and Columbia, in South Carolina and Augusta and Savannah in Georgia.
The Revolution will be holding tryouts at Richard Bland on Dec. 6.  For more information on the Petersburg Revolution, visit this link.
