Bio

Adam Moss is in his second year as a Sports Performance Coach at Richard Bland College during 2017-18.  He joined the Statesmen in July 2016.

Moss has operated his own business, Moss Sports Performance, LLC, since 2012, providing small group and individual training to both novice and high performance athletes. He has served as the official sports performance provider for the Powhatan/Fury Soccer Association and C2C Lacrosse in Chesterfield. Moss has developed and implemented team and small group training sessions focused on improving fundamental physical literacy and foundational strength & conditioning. He has been the official sports performance coach for James River High School football, boy's lacrosse and wrestling, Powhatan High School field hockey and girl's soccer, Deep Run High School track and field, cross country, girl's lacrosse and field hockey, along with Powhatan Blackhawk youth wrestling.

Moss served as a sports performance coach, as well as a middle school developmental coach/physical education teacher at the Collegiate School in Richmond from 2010-14. He designed, developed and implemented sport appropriate training for all of the school's teams throughout the school year and during the summer. Moss worked closely with the physical education department in designing and implementing age and developmentally appropriate training for all students in grades 5-8, also implementing a new grading system based on a student's physical competency assessments.

Prior to his time at Collegiate, Moss was a health and physical teacher at James River High School in Midlothian from 2005-10. He designed, developed and implemented JRHS's first Fit for Life/S&C course curriculum while expanding the course to three sections. Moss offered programs to suit the needs of the individual student, creating a foundation of fitness, through a variety of methods, and introduced innovative units such as fishing, mountain biking and non­contact rugby ... all while working closely with the Dean of Students, guidance counselors and coaches.

Moss has additional health and physical education teaching experiences while at Brookland Middle School in Richmond (1998-2005), Holmes Middle School in Alexandria (1997-98), along with both Salem Church and George H. Moody Middle Schools in Richmond (1997).

Moss has numerous coaching experiences at both the high school and middle school levels. They include serving as the head sports performance coach (2006-10, 2014-present) and assistant football coach (2004-10, 2014 to present) at James River High School, head football coach at Brookland Middle School (1998-2004), as well as JV and freshman football coach at Thomas Dale High School in Chester (1995-96). Moss served as an assistant track and field coach at Hermitage High School in Richmond (2003-05), Brookland Middle School (1999-2003), Thomas Dale (1996) and Hayfield Secondary School in Alexandria (1994).

Moss has been a certified USA Weightlifting (USAW) sports performance coach since 2008, and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists® (CSCS®) since 2010. He has been a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) since 2007, and the Gambetta Athletic Improvement Network (GAIN) since 2008.

Moss earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education with an add on endorsement in Health Education (NK-12) from Virginia Commonwealth University in December, 1996. He also has a B.S. degree in Business Management from VCU.
