Bio

Katy Lampman is in her second year as Head Softball Coach at Richard Bland College during 2017-18.  She was appointed the Senior Woman Administrator (SWA) in October 2017, and also serves the College as Coordinator of Recreation.  Lampman joined the Statesmen in July 2016.

The SWA position is the highest-ranking female in the athletic department.  Lampman serves as a liaison to the Richard Bland women's teams, representing the department and female student-athletes on campus as well as at NJCAA and Region X meetings in addition to other administrative duties.

Lampman led Richard Bland to an overall record of 25-21 during 2017, including 16-8 in Region X, before advancing to the post-season Region X Tournament Championship for only the second time in program history.  The No. 3 seed Statesmen won their first three games of the region tournament, including a 9-4 win past No. 1 seed Pitt (N.C.), before dropping consecutive games to the top-seeded Bulldogs in the double-elimination event (9-13, 4-6).  Richard Bland placed four individuals on the All-Region X Team in 2017, and established new program records for games (46), batting average (.374), at bats (1356), runs (384), hits (507), home runs (29), doubles (104), RBIs (320), total bases (732), slugging percentage (.540) and on base percentage (.436).  The 25 wins are the second-most in program history.

Lampman arrived at Richard Bland from Tuckahoe Sports, Inc. in Richmond, where she served as Executive Director since 2011, most-recently managing 15 travel ball teams, while the head coach for the U18 and U12 teams, as well.  Lampman was the associate head coach at Radford University for three seasons (2009-11), helping the Highlanders to three Big South Conference regular season championships, two Big South Tournament titles (2009-10) and two NCAA Regional appearances (2009-10).

At Tuckahoe Sports, Lampman was responsible for strategic planning and facility operations, financial planning, recruiting, along with staff and coach development.  Among her notable achievements, she helped 25-plus softball players earn college recruitment in four years, launched a Leadership Group for youth softball and baseball that currently numbers near 200 members, developed and executed the first Leadoff Banquet for the Leadership Group, developed annual coaching clinics and programming of classes and camps, developed a Training Manual and Orientation Program for camp staff and established Standards of Performance used by all employees and coaches.

At Radford, Lampman served as a member of the 2009 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Regional Coaching Staff of the Year under head coach Mickey Dean.  RU finished 41-16 overall in 2009, including 16-2 in the Big South, advancing to an NCAA Regional at the University of the North Carolina where the Highlanders were 1-2.  Radford was 38-17, 16-2 Big South during 2010 while advancing to the NCAA Regional at the University of Georgia where RU was 2-2, falling in the regional final.  The Highlanders finished 38-21, 14-4 Big South during 2011 with a team that featured Lowes Senior CLASS Award winner and NFCA All-American Chelsea Kelley.

Lampman was the recruiting coordinator at Radford and served as the head of scouting, while the program's hitting coach, catching/pitching coach and outfield coach, as well.  She was responsible for team travel, practice plans and team apparel and equipment.  Lampman was Camp Director for Mickey Dean's Softball Camps and also brought in the Jennie Finch Camp for three years (2009-11).

Prior to Radford, Lampman was a volunteer assistant coach at her alma mater, Winthrop University, helping the Eagles to a pair of Big South regular season and tournament championships (2007-08), and the accompanying NCAA Regional appearances.  WU won a school-record 50 games in 2007 (50-18, 11-4 Big South), followed by 36 wins in 2008 (36-19, 14-1 Big South) with teams that featured NFCA All-American Lisa Kingsmore.  Lampman coached under Mark Cooke at Wintrhop and assisted with pitching, catching and hitting while also serving as the Summer Camp Director.

A native of Louisa, Lampman earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology/Pre-Medicine from Winthrop in 2003.  She was a four-year team member with the Eagles, earning 2002 Big South Conference All-Tournament Team honors.  Lampman was named to the 2002 NFCA Academic Honor Roll, as well as the Tri-Beta Honor Society in 2002 and 2003.
