Bio

Ryan Averett MS, ATC, LAT is in his second year as the Athletic Trainer for Richard Bland College during 2017-18.  He joined the Department of Athletics in January 2017.  Averett previously served as an Assistant Director of Sports Medicine at the University of Nevada.  Moore also announced a new collaborative agreement with VCU Health Sports Medicine to provide a comprehensive sports medicine program to optimize the health, wellness, activity and participation of Richard Bland student-athletes.

A native of Cedar City, Utah, Averett comes to Richard Bland from the University of Nevada where he worked for almost four years as an Assistant Director of Sports Medicine.  He received his Master’s in Athletic Training from A.T. Still (Ariz.) University in 2012 and had previously received his Bachelors in Athletic Training from Southern Utah University in 2008.

Over the course of his career, Averett has work as an athletic trainer at multiple levels of athletics ranging from high school to collegiate athletics, including time as an assistant athletic trainer at North Carolina Wesleyan College and all the way up to NCAA Division I.  He has worked with a wide variety of sports including basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball, track and field, tennis, gymnastics and lacrosse.

A Certified Athletic Trainer, Ryan is also a member of several professional organizations (NATA, VATA, MAATA, NEVATA, FWATA) and has certifications in both American Heart Association Professional rescue CPR/AED and First Aid.
