#7 RICHARD BLAND USES SECOND HALF SPARK TO WIN 10th IN A ROW

GREENVILLE, NC, January 25, 2014- Richard Bland (18-1) traveled to Pitt Community College (11-4) for their first of two road trips. The Statesmen were anxious to seek revenge on their only loss of the season against the Bulldogs. Richard Bland gained momentum  late in the game to win 91-86.

The Statesmen led by as many as eight points (28-20) with 4:57 remaining in the first half before the Bulldogs went on a 16-4 run led by an onslaught on three point baskets by DeMarkus Forbes and driving lay ups by JaQuan Blount who led Pitt in scoring with 27 and 22 points respectively. The Bulldogs led at the intermission 38-32. Pitt Community College who led by as many as 11 points (53-42), continued to hold their advantage over the Statesmen until the 6:29 mark of the game. The Statesmen took the lead and never looked back after a Micah Thomas mid range jumper and a lay up by Lequan Thomas put the Statesmen up for good at 70-66. The Statesmen were led by Tavon Mealy with 17 points, Lequan Thomas had 15 points and dished out three assists, Micah Thomas tossed in 15 points along with three field goals from long distance and Melvin Gregory collected his fifth consecutive double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

The Statesmen will take on the Lancers of Lenoir Community College at 3:00 pm on Sunday, January 26, 2014. The Lancers defeated the Pitt Bulldogs this past Thursday in a nail biter 92-91. Richard Bland will seek win #19 and an eleventh consecutive win.
