#1 STATESMEN GRINDS OUT WIN OVER VANCE-GRANVILLE TO CAPTURE 14th STRAIGHT WIN

PETERSBURG, VA, February 5, 2014-The visiting Vanguards of Vance-Granville Community College came into Statesman Hall shorthanded, as Richard Bland fought through to claim their 14th straight victory, 92-65.

Melvin Gregory paced the Statesmen with 22 points, Trayvonte Brown tossed in 15 points and led the team in rebounding with seven, Tavon Mealy added 13, Marquis Powell contributed 10 points, six rebounds, and six assists. Avery Ugba pumped in eight points and grabbed four rebounds. The Vanguards were led by Ronald Evans and Jordan Bunting who scored 20 points apiece for the visitors.

The Statesmen are back in action on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 for a 6:00 pm tip-off against Lenoir Community College.
