THREE STATESMEN NAMED TO ALL REGION TEAM

HICKORY, NC, March 7, 2014- Richard Bland College was well represented at the NJCAA DII Region X Men's Basketball Conference Tournament in Hickory, NC on Friday, March 7, 2014. Three Statesmen were named to the All-Region team, Micah Thomas and Tavon Mealy were named to the first team, while Melvin Gregory garnered third team honors.

The team's leading scorer Thomas (16.1 ppg) who earned the NJCAA DII national player of the week award earlier in the season was a member of the first team, along with second leading scorer Tavon Mealy (15.0) who also matched Thomas' national player of the week honors. Melvin Gregory was tabbed as a third team performer for the Statesmen.

The trio were instrumental in helping the Statesmen advance to the semifinals of the Region X Tournament, to play against Wake Technical Community College at 4:00 pm on Saturday, March 7, 2014.
