RICHARD BLAND ADDS TWO FOR 2014-15 SEASON

PETERSBURG, VA, May 5, 2014- Richard Bland College looks to follow up with an encore performance from this past season's success. In order to repeat and top that performance you need to bring in talented athletes, which is what head coach Chuck Moore intends to do.

The Statesmen got off to a good start by signing Troy Gibson from Heritage High School in Newport News, VA and adding JUCO transfer Josh Davis from Region X rival Louisburg College.

Gibson, a 6'4" forward averaged 11.8 points and 8.8 rebounds per game for the Hurricanes. Heritage High School is coached by Michael Gardner, who selected Troy as a team captain for his senior year. Gibson has a workhorse mentality on the court and being active on the offensive end he also nearly averaged two blocks per game (1.6), to remain consistent he tallied five double-doubles on the season.

Adding Davis brings some versatility to the Statesmen frontcourt. At 6'5", Davis is capable of playing multiple positions and has great athleticism. This past season he averaged 8.3 points and 5. 3 rebounds per game for the 28-5 Hurricanes, while shooting 71% from the free throw line.

Josh is a high school teammate of current Statesmen guard Khaliq Fletcher from Phoebus High School in Hampton, Virginia.
