11th-RANKED STATESMEN BLOW BY VANCE-GRANVILLE, 118-58

HENDERSON, N.C. – The 11th-ranked Richard Bland men's basketball team bolted out to a 74-30 lead and never looked back on its way to a 7-0 winning-streak on the 2014-2015 season and a dominating 118-58 win over Vance-Granville Community College in front of Vanguard fans at the Aycock Recreation Center on Tuesday evening.

Freshman Isreal Stith (Lawrenceville, VA) had a career-high with 17 points while two other Statesmen reached double figures, including sophomore's Tavon Mealy (Richmond, VA) and Avery Ugba (Silver Springs, MD) who both scored 17 points as well.

RBC exploded to a 12-0 start just minutes into the game, the Statesmen flustered Vance-Granville to the point that the Vanguards called a timeout.

Richard Bland's lead would reach 40 in the closing moments of the half, and the Statesmen ultimately went into halftime with a 44-point lead, 74-30.

The second half brought more of the same, with the Statesmen jumping out early. Vance-Granville never got closer than 40 points the rest of the night, and RBC cruised to an easy 115-58 victory.

The Statesmen will host the next three games in Statesman Hall, starting on Wednesday, Dec. 3rd when they welcome Tidewater Community College for the first game of "Homecoming" week.

All fans are asked to wear all black in support of the "blackout" theme of the game. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m.
