RBC HOOPS TRAVELS TO TOP-RANKED LOUISBURG WEDNESDAY

PETERSBURG, Va. – The No. 3 Richard Bland College men's basketball team travels to Louisburg, N.C., Wednesday, Jan 14 to face undefeated and top-ranked Louisburg at 7 p.m. in the Roger G. Taylor Athletic Center. The game will offer live stats on rbcathletics.com.

Richard Bland (14-1, 6-1 Region X) is coming off a 66-64 setback to No. 17 Bryant & Stratton on Jan. 10. The loss snapped a 14-game win streak for RBC. The streak was the longest winning-streak in program history.

Leading the way has been the outstanding forward play of sophomore Tavon Mealy (Armstrong), sophomore forward Avery Ugba (Blake) and freshman guard Reginald Moses (Henrico). The threesome makes up 61 percent of the overall scoring. Mealy, who has been the most consistent all season long, is RBC's leading scorer with 19.6 points per game. He netted a team-high 18 points vs. Bryant & Stratton. Ugba and Moses follow with 12.5 and 11.2 ppg.

The Hurricanes are off to their best start in program history with a 15-0 overall mark, including 5-0 in Region X play. LC's roster features 10 players who are at least 6-feet tall, including seven who are 6-foot-4 or taller.

Louisburg led by fifth-year head coach Mark Vanderslice, who has become one of the only coaches in NJCAA history to have three consecutive 30 win seasons.

The contest will be the first meeting between the arch-rivals this season. Last season, both teams split wins with the Statesmen winning the first matchup 71-68 on Jan. 22 and the Hurricanes taking the second game, 96-73 on Mar. 1.

Three of the last four meetings have been decided by seven points or less. The Statesmen went 3-1 in those games.
