MOSES, OFFENSE OVERRUN PITT

PETERSBURG, Va. – Henrico product, Reginald Moses scored a career-high and game-high 41 points as No. 6 Richard Bland trounced Pitt Community College, 104-81 on Wednesday night. He was 14-of-16 from the field and connected 10-of-11 from beyond the arc. Moses high scoring performance is the most points scored by a player since the program has been reinstated.

Richard Bland (17-2, 9-1 Region X) bounced back from its upset loss to Spartanburg Methodist last Sunday in a big way by shooting 49 percent, including 16 of 29 from beyond the arc. Tavon Mealy (Armstrong) scored 19 points and gathered 13 rebounds, Brian Adkins (Aberdeen, MD) added 14 points while dishing out seven assist and Avery Ugba (Silver Springs, MD) had 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Statesmen.

LeQuan Thomas (Green Run) had a career-high and game-high 13 assists while Melvin Gregory (Lancaster) collected 11 rebounds to go along with nine points in the win.

Ramones Adderley led Pitt (10-8, 6-3 Region X) with 25 points, following Alfonzo Josey who chipped in 14 points while both Ashton Brown and Leveon Hines added 12 points each in the loss, respectively.

Immediately off the tip-off Moses drains a 3-pointer to put the Statesmen on the board first which ignited an 8-0 run for RBC.

The Bulldogs shot 38.2 percent from the field and only connected 2-of-10 from beyond the arc down the stretch. The Statesmen led with comfort 53-33 at the break.

It was more of the same in the second half, as RBC opened the frame with several runs and eventually clipped the 100th scoring mark after a lay-up from Mealy. The Bulldogs had no answer for the Statesmen both offensively and defensively as they cruised to its 17th victory on the season.

The Statesmen return to action on Jan. 24th when they travel to Chesapeake, Va. at Oscar Smith High School for a Region X match-up against Tidewater Community College.
