RBC HOOPS TO HOST RIVAL LOUISBURG, WEDNESDAY

PETERSBURG, Va. – The Richard Bland men's basketball team continues Region X play on Wednesday with a home contest against arch-rival the Louisburg Hurricanes, beginning at 7 p.m. at Statesman Hall.

The contest will provide live stats on www.rbcathletics.com and live audio on WHAP 1340 AM Fox Sports Radio at http://radio.securenetsystems.net/v5/WHAP with Steve "DaTruth" Nugent and Jerrett Brown for the Statesmen blackout game.

Richard Bland looks to seek its 14th conference victory and its 10th consecutive home win of the season. The Statesmen are coming off a 99-77 win over Pitt Community College in Kinston, N.C. on Saturday where sophomore Avery Ugba (Silver Springs, MD) scored a career-high and season-high 28 points with 14 rebounds in the effort.

It will be second time the Statesmen face the Hurricanes this season. The previous meeting at Louisburg resulted in an 87-81 win for the Statesmen on Jan. 14.

Last Time Out

Sophomore Avery Ugba (Silver Springs, MD) scored career-high 28 points to go along with 14 rebounds in the 99-77 victory over Lenoir Community College on Saturday afternoon.

The Statesmen never trailed the entire game to sweep the series.

Sophomore Tavon Mealy (Richmond, VA) followed Ugba in scoring with 16 points and 10 rebounds while freshman Reginald Moses (Henrico, VA) added 15 points. The trio has been the Statesmen leading scorers the entire season.

Last Meeting: Jan. 14, 2015

Freshman Reginald Moses scored game-high 22 points in the victory over the Hurricanes as the Statesmen walked away with an 87-81 decision to knock down the then top-ranked Louisburg.

Moses's 22 points came from mid-range, although he was 3-of-4 from beyond the arc and 3-of-5 from the free-throw line. He was 8-of-13 from the floor, playing 22 minutes and was one of five players to score in double-figures. Avery Ugba scored 14 points and snatched 11 rebounds.

After the Statesmen took a 37-34 lead into halftime, the Statesmen extended that to as many as seven points at 67-60 with 5:28 left to play. But LC's Camden Scott would drain two 3-pointers to cut the deficit down followed by a lay-up to tie game at 75 apiece. The Statesmen would go on a 10-2 run and a series of turnovers from both teams that resulted in a steal for LeQuan Thomas to lay the ball in for two to secure the win.
