STATESMEN TRAVELS TO PITT FOR SATURDAY GAME

PETERSBURG, Va. – As the last road game of the regular season approaches Richard Bland on Saturday, the Statesmen are looking to travel to Greensboro, N.C. to face the Bulldogs of Pitt Community College. The Statesmen enter the matchup with a 22-4 overall record and a 13-3 mark in Region X play after suffering an 80-74 setback to rival and ninth-ranked Louisburg on Wednesday.  Henrico alumni, Reginald Moses added 19 points and Armstrong alumni Tavon Mealy chipped in 16 points in the loss.

 

Mealy ranks third in the conference for field-goal percentage at 66.7 percent while Moses ranks third for free-throw percentage at 85.9 percent.

 

Pitt (18-8, 13-4) defeated Vance-Granville, 74-70 on Thursday. Alfonzo Josey led the way with 21 points, while Romone Adderly added 17 points and Michael Williams chipped in a double-double with 12 points and 16 rebounds.

 

The Bulldogs are currently on an eight-game win streak and have not lost a game since the first meeting between the Statesmen on Jan. 21. The last time these two teams met, Moses record a career-high 41 points including 10 3-pointers and 14-of-16 shooting as the Statesmen claimed the victory over the Bulldogs, 104-81.
