RBC HOSTS FIRST-ROUND OF REGION X MEN’S BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT IN STATESMAN HALL
PETERSBURG, Va. – The National Junior College Athletic Association of Division II Region X Men's Basketball Committee has released the bracket and tournament pairings for the 2015 Region X Men's Basketball Tournament.
All games of the first two rounds of the tournament will be held at Statesman Hall. The semifinals and championship games will be held at Louisburg College.
Games times for Saturday, Feb. 28th include:
#6 Catawba Valley Community College vs. #11 Tidewater Community College at 2 p.m.
#7 Lenoir Community College vs. #10 Guilford Tech Community College at 4 p.m.
#8 Vance-Granville Community College vs. #9 Wake Technical Community College at 6 p.m.
Game times for Sunday, Mar. 1st include:
#4 Pitt Community College vs. #5 Patrick Henry Community College at 12 noon.
#3 Bryant & Stratton Community College vs. the winner of #6/#11 at 2 p.m.
#2 Richard Bland College vs. the winner of #7/#10 at 4 p.m.
#1 Louisburg College vs. the winner of #8/#9 at 6 p.m.
The Richard Bland men's basketball team earned a second place finish in the Region X conference behind Louisburg who claimed the regular season title. The Statesmen will take on the winner of the Lenoir and Guilford Tech game for a 4 p.m. start on Sunday.
The Statesmen enter the tournament with a 25-4 overall record and 16-3 in the league. Tavon Mealy (Armstrong) leads the team in scoring with 18.0 points per game, while Reginald Moses (Henrico) and Averyl Ugba (Silver Springs, MD) follows with 13.6 and 12.8 ppg, respectively.
Ticket prices are $10 for general admission, senior citizen (65 and older), high school students (with valid ID), military (w/valid ID) and youth (11-17) is $7. Youth under ages 10, RBC student with valid ID, RBC Faculty/Staff are all free.
