MEALY NAMED DII REGION X PLAYER OF THE YEAR
PETERSBURG, Va. – Men's basketball players Tavon Mealy (Armstrong), Averyl Ugba (Silver Springs, MD) and Reginald Moses (Henrico) of Richard Bland College were selected to the 2015 All-Region X Team on Saturday, February 28, 2015.
A product of Armstrong High School, sophomore forward, Mealy was named the 2015 Region X Player of the Year.
Mealy averages 18.0 point per game, while collecting 8.7 rebounds per outing. He ranks third in field goal percentage at 65.6 percent.
Mealy was the only Statesmen selected First-Team All-Region X, teammates Moses and Ugba were both named to the Second-Team All-Region X. The combo follows Mealy in scoring, averaging 13.6 and 12.8 point per game, respectively.
The Statesmen will face the seventh-seed Lenoir Community College on Sunday, Mar. 1st in Statesman Hall. Tip-off is slated for 4 p.m.
