STATESMEN AND LANCERS MEET SUNDAY AT REGION X TOURNAMENT

PETERSBURG, Va. – The No. 7 Richard Bland College men's basketball team will go head-to-head with Lenoir Community College in its first game of the 2014-15 post season. The contest is set to tip-off at 4 p.m. in Statesman Hall.

 

RBC enters Sunday's matchup as the second seed in the tournament, with a 25-4 record overall and 16-3 in the league.

 

The Lancers (12-15 overall, 8-12 Region X) enter Sunday's contest after defeating Guilford Tech 104-100 in overtime on Saturday. Antuawn Smith led all scorers in the game with 31 points, following Devon Edwards who added 25 points and Jeremy Smith charted 16.

 

For the Statesmen, All-Region X performer Tavon Mealy (Armstrong) leads the effort for RBC this season, averaging 18.0 points per game. All-Region X performers Reginald Moses (Henrico, VA) and Averyl Ugba (Silver Springs, MD) both add 13.6 and 12.8 ppg. Defensively, Ugba leads the team, averaging 10.1 rebounds per outing.
