RBC CELEBRATES FIRST ANNUAL ALUMNI GAME

PETERSBURG, Va. – The first annual Richard Bland College Alumni Basketball game was played on Saturday, April 11 in front of a nice appreciative crowd at Statesman Hall.

Basketball memories were in the spotlight once again for the 15 former players whose graduation years ranged from 1975 to 1993. And along the way, a few more memories were created during the exhibition game.

The teams were split between the alumni and current players for a 40 minute contest. Head coach Chuck Moore led RBC "Black Team" while former head coach of the Statesmen Cham Pritchard led RBC "White Team".

Coach Cham's team would get the 64-63 win proving to NJCAA Division II National Coach of the Year in Moore that he still had it.

"It was a great atmosphere. The support of other alumni, their families, the student body and community really came out in a really big way," said Coach Moore. "That's what makes college athletics special when you can put on events like this and people enjoy it."
