STATESMEN VISIT STATE CAPITAL, MEET GOVERNOR MCAULIFFE

RICHMOND, Va. – The NJCAA National Champion Richard Bland College men's basketball team visited the state's capital and Governor of Virginia, Terry McAuliffe on Tuesday afternoon as part of a celebration for winning its first national championship in school history.

The 14-member Statesmen men's basketball team was introduced to the governor in front of the state capital as the players became engaged in conversations with Governor McAuliffe about winning the national championship, the history of the state capital and how he got to where he is today to name a few.

"What a tremendous honor to be asked to visit the State House," said Richard Bland head coach Chuck Moore. "This was a wonderful learning experience for our young men as well. I cannot begin to express how excited all of us were about this trip to Richmond."

The meet and greet was followed by a team photo with Governor McAuliffe and individual shots after he commended the team for all they have accomplished this season.

"Our team took great pride in not only representing Richard Bland, but the entire state of Virginia during our national championship game in Danville, Ill," he added. The fact that the victory earned us a trip to the capital just made it that much sweeter."
