BACK HOME: STATESMEN HOST VANCE GRANVILLE ON TUESDAY NIGHT

PETERSBURG, Va., (Nov. 23, 2015) – It has been almost one month since the Richard Bland College men's basketball team played a basketball game on campus, but that all changes on Tuesday night, when the Statesmen begin Region X Conference action hosting Vance-Granville Community College at 7 p.m.

Tuesday marks the second annual Military Appreciation Game on campus. All members of the military and their family are admitted to the contest free of charge.
 

The Statesmen (4-4) are coming off a 104-93 loss to Caldwell Community College at the Region X Blastoff on Saturday evening at Sandhills, N.C. ... The Statesmen placed four players in double figures, led by former Petersburg High School standout Gevon Arrington with 14 points, fellow freshman guard Deandre Clark with 14 points, freshman guard Myles Markland with 11 points and sophomore forward Troy Gibson with 10 points … Against Caldwell, RBC shot 49 percent from the floor, the second best mark of the season following a 56 percent effort against CCBC Dundalk in the second game of the season.

RECORDS: Richard Bland enters Tuesday's game with a 4-4 record … Vance-Granville is 2-4.
 

LAST SEASON VS. VANCE-GRANVILLE: Richard Bland defeated Vance-Granville twice last season, 115-58 on Nov. 25 and 94-59 on Feb. 2.  

WHAT'S NEXT: Following tonight's game, Richard Bland will return to the road, playing two consecutive games at Pitt. Community College on Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. and at Catawba Valley Community College on Dec. 5 at 1 p.m. The Statesmen next return to campus on Dec. 12 hosting Guilford Tech Community College on Dec. 12 at 3 p.m.
 

TOUGH AT HOME: Entering his third season at Richard Bland, head coach Chuck Moore has compiled an impressive 36-3 record at home … Overall, Moore has a 63-13 (.828) record at Richard Bland ... Moore was 48-16 in two seasons as head coach at Patrick Henry Community College 

DOUBLE TROUBLE: With Arrington's ascent into the double digit scoring (10.1 ppg), the Statesmen now have five players scoring in double figures ... Gibson leads the team (14.4 ppg), followed by sophomore forward Devin Smith (13.5 ppg, achieved in two games thus far) and Clark (12.9 ppg).
 

SOPHOMORE LEADERSHIP: Gibson, the lone returner from last year's championship team, has scored in double figures in seven of eight games this season, including a career-best 25 points against Harcum College ... If not for a 9-point game against Essex, Gibson would be a perfect 8 for 8 scoring in double digits.

OFF THE BOARDS: Freshman Jaquan Wooten leads the Statesmen in rebounding (9.5 rpg), which is 8th best in NJCAA Division II … Wooten has corralled 63 defensive boards this season, which leads the nation. … The freshman has had double figures in rebounding in five of eight games, including 53 boards in his last five games (10.6 rpg).
 

REBOUNDING AS A TEAM: Against Lenoir Community College on Nov. 18, the Statesmen hauled in 61 rebounds, tying a mark of 61 set against Cape Fear Community College last January 7 … Only one other time in Moore's time as coach has the team had 60 or more rebounds in a game – 60 versus Tidewater Community College on Dec. 13, 2013.

SHOCK BLOCKERS: With an average of 5.6 blocks per game, RBC ranks 12th best in the country in NJCAA Division II.
 

LEADER OF THE BLOCK:, Wooten leads the Statesmen in blocks with 22 (2.7 bpg), which is 5th best in NJCAA Division II.

VIRGINIA STRONG: Ten of the players on the RBC roster hail from Virginia.
