MOSES NETS 27, BUT STATESMEN DROP CLOSE GAME TO WAKE TECH, 79-74

RALEIGH, N.C. (Feb. 20, 2016) — Sophomore guard Reginald Moses scored 19 of his game high 27 points in the second half, but his season-best offensive output couldn't curtail an effective Wake Technical Community College team that went 25 of 29 from the free throw line, to register a 79-74 victory over the Richard Bland College men's basketball team in Region X Conference play on Saturday afternoon.

The Eagles secured the win by virtue of conversion from the free throw line, knocking down key 3-pointers and finishing inside. Those factors helped Wake Tech build a 19-point lead midway in the second half, which put the Statesmen in comeback mode. Richard Bland was able to shave that margin to 72-70 with 42 seconds remaining in the contest, but free throws accounted for Wake's final six points in the five point win.

The loss drops Richard Bland to 14-15, 8-9 on the season. Wake Tech improves to 9-17, 6-12.  The Statesmen will play their final regular season home game of the season on Tuesday, Feb. 23 at 7 p.m. against Bryant & Stratton and then will host the first two rounds of the Region X Conference Championships at Statesman Hall on Feb. 27-28. Wake Tech next plays in the conference championships.

Richard Bland trailed 39-29 at halftime.
