No. 14 Richard Bland Runs Past Delaware Tech 70-51

FREDERICK, Md. -- Sophomore Jaquan Wooten/Kinston, North Carolina scored a season-high 18 points, adding a team-high 13 rebounds and three blocks, to lead No. 14 Richard Bland College to a 70-51 men's basketball victory past Delaware Technical Community College at the FCC Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday afternoon at Frederick Community College in Frederick, Maryland.  Sophomore Deandre Clark/Orange added 12 points for the Statesmen (2-1).  Richard Bland will play on the road at The College of Southern Maryland in La Plata, Maryland on Wednesday, Nov. 9 at 6 p.m. 

Richard Bland, ranked No. 14 in the NJCAA Division II Preseason Poll, scored the first 15 points of the game over the opening five minutes against Delaware Tech.  The Statesmen, who led the entire contest, went on to lead comfortably at the break, taking a 39-23 lead into the locker room.  Clark and sophomore Gevon Arrington/Petersburg each scored seven first-half points, while Wooten had six points at halftime and freshman Tim Bing Jr./District Heights, Maryland contributed five points, off the bench.

Richard Bland maintained the advantage in the second half, though Delaware Tech did manage to close to within nine points with 10 minutes remaining.  The Statesmen, however, went on a big run to increase their margin to 22 points with just over three minutes left toward the 19-point triumph.  Wooten had 12 points over the final 20 minutes, as Richard Bland bounced back from a disappointing one-point loss on Friday night.

Wooten led Richard Bland with his team-high and season-high 18 points, adding a team-high 13 rebounds and three blocks.  Clark had the 12 points, and sophomore Myles Markland/Petersburg added a season-high 10 points, off the bench.  Bing Jr. finished with nine points, and Arrington had the seven points.  Sophomore Jalen Jackson/Plainfield, N.J. made his first start for the Statesmen and contributed three points, eight rebounds and three assists.

Richard Bland was playing Delaware Tech for the first-time ever in the sport of men's basketball.
