Richard Bland Sponsoring FCA Appreciation Day/Canned Food Drive

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, Va. -- Richard Bland Athletics has designated its men's basketball home game this Saturday, December 3, as FCA Appreciation Day while sponsoring a Canned Food Drive to benefit The Hope Center in Petersburg. It's free admission for everyone; however, all fans are asked to please bring a canned food, dry goods or peanut butter to the game featuring the Statesmen against Region X Conference opponent Catawba Valley (N.C.) Community College at 3 p.m. in Statesman Hall.

"We are looking forward to having our FCA Appreciation and Canned Food Drive on Saturday," said Danish Saadat, Coordinator of Athletics Special Events. "We would like to thank the local FCA organization and Michaele Shriver for everything that they do for our student-athletes, and this game serves as a small token of our appreciation. We also look forward to continuing the tradition of conducting a canned food drive in support of The Hope Center in Petersburg during this holiday season."

Richard Bland is recognizing the local Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) organization that serves 26 area high schools. The FCA is an international non-profit Christian sports ministry.
