Richard Bland No. 13 In First Regular Season NJCAA Division II Poll

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, Va. -- Richard Bland College has been ranked No. 13 in this week's NJCAA Division II Men's Basketball Poll, the first poll of the regular season, as released Tuesday afternoon. The Statesmen are currently 9-2 overall, including 3-0 in Region X, with five-straight wins – the latter two by 23 points each (at Pitt CC, 80-57; Catawba Valley CC, 89-66). Richard Bland is idle this week for fall semester examinations before continuing home action against Region X member Guilford Technical (N.C.) Community College on Saturday, December 10 at 3 p.m. at Statesman Hall.

Richard Bland is up one spot from its preseason ranking of No. 14 after winning nine of its first 11 games this season. Triton (Ill.) College (9-0), the 2016 NJCAA Division II National Runners-Up, is ranked No. 1 in this week's poll after being ranked No. 2 in preseason, while Kirkwood (Iowa) Community College (7-2), last year's National Champion and preseason No. 1, dropped to No. 6 this week. Fellow Region X member Louisburg (N.C.) College (6-3) is receiving votes this week after being ranked No. 10 in the preseason poll.
