Richard Bland Names Deandre Clark Athlete of the Week (Again)

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, Va. -- Richard Bland College sophomore men's basketball standout guard Deandre Clark/Orange has been named the Athletics Department's Athlete of the Week for the period January 11-17. He led the Statesmen to a 2-1 week, averaging 17.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.0 steals, while shooting 53% (20-38) from the field, including 46% (12-26) on three-point field goals. This is the second time that Clark has been selected for the weekly honor, as he previously garnered the award for the period November 16-22, 2016. He is the first Statesmen to be named Athlete of the Week two times this year.

Clark scored a game-high 22 points, including six three-pointers, adding six rebounds during an 84-70 road win at Lenoir (N.C.) Community College on Jan. 11, had a team-high 17 points with five assists and five steals during a 71-66 road setback at No. 16 Louisburg (N.C.) College on Jan. 14 and scored 13 points with four rebounds and three assists during a 92-66 home win past Fayetteville Technical (N.C.) Community College on Jan. 16. Through 17 games, Clark is second in scoring for Richard Bland (14-3, 7-1), ranked No. 6 in the latest NJCAA Division II Top 20 Poll, with his 12.1 points, adding 3.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists with 43 three-pointers.

Clark has attained a 3.07 grade point average toward his Associate in Arts Degree, which he is scheduled to obtain in May. He plans to major in sports management at a four-year school, and has received interest from NCAA Division II programs at the University of Mount Olive (N.C.), Salem International (W.Va.) University and Winston-Salem State (N.C.) University.
