Chuck Moore Named HoopDirt.com JUCO Coach of the Week

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, Va. -- Richard Bland College men's basketball head coach Chuck Moore has been selected as the Week 11 HoopDirt.com Junior College Coach of the Week presented by The Hoop Group.  He is now eligible to receive the HoopDirt.com National Coach of the Year Award presented by the Hoop Group which will be announced at the conclusion of the 2016-17 college basketball season.

Richard Bland is currently 18-3 overall, 11-1 in NJCAA Region 10, while ranked No. 5 in this week's NJCAA Division II Top 20.  The Statesmen have won five-straight games and 14 of their last 15 games overall, while unbeaten at home (7-0).  Last week, Richard Bland won road games at region rival Patrick Henry (Va.) Community College, 83-61, and at region member Guilford Technical (N.C.) Community College, 101-82.  The Statesmen are scheduled to play two region games this week, including Lenoir (N.C.) Community College on February 1 at home before traveling to Catawba Valley (N.C.) Community College on Feb. 4. 

Richard Bland has made a steady climb in the national rankings this season after being ranked No. 14 in the preseason poll.  Coach Moore is currently 92-28 (.767) while in his fourth season guiding the Statesmen, including the 2015 NJCAA Division II National Championship (school-record 32-4) campaign, when he was named the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) National Junior College Coach of the Year.  Moore also serves at the College's Director of Athletics.
