Chuck Moore, Eduardo de Souza Attending SIS Athletic Showcase
SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, Va. -- Richard Bland College Director of Athletics and men's basketball head coach Chuck Moore, along with International Student Coordinator and men's soccer head coach Eduardo de Souza, will be attending and participating in the 2017 Student International Sport (SIS) Athletic Showcase scheduled for July 1-9 in Cancun, Mexico. Moore and de Souza will be representing the College and Statesmen Athletics at the annual event that will feature amateur student-athletes from over 20 countries looking to earn scholarships to colleges and universities in the United States.
"Being asked to participate in this camp is an exciting opportunity for myself and for Richard Bland," explained Moore. "This gives us a chance to recruit the quality of international student-athletes we want on our campus and to be a part of our program. Additionally, the exposure Richard Bland will receive is immeasurable and I'm thrilled to be an ambassador for RBC!"
The SIS Showcase includes the sports of basketball, soccer, golf and tennis for both men and women. A typical day includes college admissions and competition presentations, college and university fairs, along with skill development and competition sessions. Moore will be working with the basketball participants throughout the camp, and will additionally get to work with the Mexico National Basketball Team coached by Sergio Valdeolmillos. de Souza will be working with the soccer participants and will conduct a presentation on Richard Bland College during the event, as well.
"When you travel abroad, a key element is to focus on relationship building in order to bring the best quality International students to Richard Bland College," said de Souza. "We will have the opportunity to present our College and inform prospective students about the high quality of education they can and will experience on our campus."
