Former Richard Bland Standout Avery Ugba Enrolls At Austin Peay

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, Va. -- Former Richard Bland College men's basketball standout Avery Ugba has recently enrolled at NCAA Division I Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee for his final season of collegiate eligibility during 2017-18.  He played two seasons with the Statesmen from 2013-15, helping lead Richard Bland to the 2015 NJCAA Division II National Championship.  Ugba was named the Most Outstanding Player at the Final Four that year after posting four consecutive double-doubles while averaging 20.3 points and 14.8 rebounds in Danville, Illinois. 

Ugba (6-7, 225) earned All-Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) First Team honors at Division I Grambling State University in Grambling, Louisiana during this past season, averaging 13.0 points and a SWAC-best 9.7 rebounds.  He posted 12 double-doubles, including 26 points and 20 rebounds against the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, and earned SWAC Player of the Week honors last February 10, averaging 22.0 points and 14.5 rebounds in two SWAC games. 

A native of Silver Spring, Maryland, Avery earned All-Region X Second Team honors during 2014-15 when he averaged a double-double of 13.9 points and 10.5 rebounds.  He averaged 11.2 points and 9.2 rebounds during 2013-14.  Ugba started 33 of 59 career games at Richard Bland, helping the Statesmen to a two-year record of 59-8, including the national title.
