No. 2 Richard Bland Hosting Cape Fear (N.C.) Wednesday At 6 p.m.

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, Va. -- Richard Bland College will host NJCAA Division I Cape Fear (N.C.) Community College in a non-region men's basketball game on Wednesday night, November 15, at 6 p.m. in Statesman Hall.  The NJCAA Division II preseason nationally-ranked No. 2 Statesmen are 4-0 this season, including 2-0 at home, following a 101-85 win past the College of Southern Maryland on Nov. 10.  The Sea Devils are 2-1 this season after splitting a pair of games Nov. 10-11 at a tournament in Georgia.  Richard Bland defeated Cape Fear 78-72 last season (Nov. 19) in Statesman Hall.

It'll be Greek Alumni Night in Statesman Hall as the College welcomes back those alumni who were members of the Greek Community throughout many years on the RBC campus.  Admission is free to all Statesmen home games, while the contest can be heard locally on WHAP Radio, Fox Sports 1340 AM.

Scouting the Statesmen
No. 2 Richard Bland is 4-0 after the 16-point home win past Southern Maryland on Nov. 10.  The Statesmen, who are an outstanding 108-31 (.777) over the past four-plus seasons, are coached by fifth-year head coach Chuck Moore (156-47 overall), and assisted by third-year assistant coach Preston Beverly and first-year student assistant coach Brandon Henry.

Through four games, Richard Bland has been led in scoring by 6-4, 225-pound sophomore guard Robert Smith/Hampton, who is averaging 21.0 points, 7.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists.  He is followed by local 6-7 sophomore forward Stanley Taylor/Petersburg, who is averaging a double-double of 12.5 points and 10.0 rebounds, along with 6-2 sophomore guard Tim Bing Jr./Suitland, Maryland (12.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists) and 6-0 sophomore guard Ricky Hicks/Bronx, New York (10.0 points, 4.8 assists).  Richard Bland is averaging 90.0 points per game, while allowing 77.8 points to opponents for a scoring margin of +12.2.

Scouting the Sea Devils
Cape Fear is 2-1 after an 82-73 road win at Georgia Highlands College on Nov. 11 in Rome, Georgia, and is coached by 10th year head coach Ryan Mantlo.  The Sea Devils have been led in scoring by freshman Donte Tatum (20.5), along with sophomores Alston Davis (11.5), NCAA Division I University of Tennessee at Chattanooga transfer Zaqwaun Matthews (11.5) and Jerick Haynes (10.5).  Cape Fear averages 76.3 points, allowing 76.3 points for a margin of 0.0.

Series History
Richard Bland and Cape Fear are playing for the fifth time in the sport of men's basketball, and the Statesmen lead the series 3-1.  Last season, Ricky Hicks scored nine points to lead a balanced effort that featured six players with at least eight points in the home win against the Sea Devils, as the team's top active returning scorer in that game.  Alston Davis scored 12 points as the top returning scorer for Cape Fear in that contest.

Richard Bland will travel to Baltimore, Maryland this weekend to play two more non-region games during the Legends Classic hosted by Baltimore City Community College.  The Statesmen will play NJCAA Division II Monroe (N.Y.) Community College on Friday, Nov. 17, at 6 p.m., followed by a game against NJCAA Division I Monroe (N.Y.) College on Saturday, Nov. 18, at 1 p.m.  Richard Bland remains away from home to play its first Region 10 contest this season at Vance-Granville (N.C.) Community College on Monday, Nov. 20, at 7 p.m. in Henderson, North Carolina.
