FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Sophomore Robert Smith/Hampton scored 22 points, though No. 7 Richard Bland College dropped a 98-86 Region 10 men's basketball road decision at Fayetteville (N.C.) Technical Community College on Wednesday night in Fayetteville, North Carolina.  Sophomore Tre' Patterson/Richmond and freshman Ryan Jones/Smithfield each added 13 points for the visiting and nationally-ranked Statesmen (9-3, 4-1 Region 10) against the host Trojans (7-3, 4-2).

Richard Bland trailed just 44-40 at halftime before Fayetteville Tech outscored the Statesmen 54-46 during the second half.  It was the first Region 10 loss this season for Richard Bland, who had won its first four region games.

Smith led Richard Bland with his 22 points.  Patterson and Jones each added their respective 13 points, and Jones had a career-high 10 rebounds for his first collegiate double-double.  Sophomore Ricky Hicks/Bronx, New York finished with nine points, redshirt-freshman Tyler Lloyd/Manassas contributed eight points, while sophomore Deon Joyner/North Charleston, South Carolina added seven points and six rebounds, and classmate Stanley Taylor/Petersburg had six points and nine rebounds.

Richard Bland returns home to host CCBC Catonsville (Md.) in non-region action on Friday, December 15, at 6 p.m. in Statesman Hall.  It's the final game this calendar year before Richard Bland takes a three-week break for the Christmas and New Year holidays, as the Statesmen will not play again until January 6, 2018 at NJCAA Division I opponent USC Salkehatchie in Allendale, South Carolina.
