Richard Bland Plays at In-State Rival Patrick Henry on Wednesday

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, Va. -- Richard Bland College will play on the road at in-state rival Patrick Henry Community College in a Region 10 men's basketball game on Wednesday night, February 14, at 7 p.m. in Martinsville.  The Statesmen are 17-6 overall, including 11-4 in Region 10, while the Patriots are 10-11 overall, including 8-7 in Region 10.  Richard Bland defeated Patrick Henry 81-60 on Jan. 24 in Statesman Hall.

Looking at the Statesmen
 Richard Bland currently stands fourth in the 11-team Region 10 standings, though only a game out of second.  The Statesmen program is an outstanding 121-37 (.766) since men's basketball was reinstated in 2013, including 68-22 (.756) in Region 10 games over the past five seasons, following the 20-year hiatus from the sport at the College.  Richard Bland is coached by fifth-year head coach Chuck Moore (169-53 overall).  Moore is assisted by third-year assistant coach Preston Beverly.

Through 23 games, Richard Bland has been led in scoring by sophomore Robert Smith/Hampton, who is averaging 17.7 points and 6.3 rebounds, and classmate Tim Bing Jr./Suitland, Maryland, who is averaging 11.0 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.2 assists).  The Statesmen are ranked 19th nationally in scoring, averaging 88.3 points per game.

Looking at the Patriots
 Patrick Henry currently stands sixth in the Region 10 standings.  The Patriots are coached by head coach Kenny Wade, and are led in scoring by Dequarius Harper, who is averaging 17.4 points, 7.3 assists and 5.3 rebounds.

First Meeting This Season
 Richard Bland led 41-29 at halftime en route to the 21-point home victory last month.  Freshman Kenny Southerland/Richmond led the Statesmen with 18 points and nine rebounds, while Robert Smith added 16 points.  Dequarius Harper led Patrick Henry with 15 points and seven rebounds, while Anthony Taylor had 14 points.
