Richard Bland Announces Addition Of Javion Patterson

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, Va. -- Richard Bland College first-year men's basketball head coach Preston Beverly has announced that Meadowbrook High School's Javion Patterson/North Chesterfield has signed to attend and play for the Statesmen. Patterson will enter Richard Bland as freshman beginning with the upcoming 2018 fall semester.

"I'm really excited that Javion has decided to join the RBC Family," said Beverly.  "He is an explosive athlete with a great basketball IQ, and it's great for us to bring another local product into our program."

Patterson, a 6-6 guard/forward, earned Class 5, All-Region B First Team as a senior at Meadowbrook in North Chesterfield.  He averaged 16 points, eight rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block for MHS during 2017-18.  Patterson scored 28 points against Dinwiddie High School, had 25 points against Manchester High School and posted 19 points and 12 rebounds against Colonial Heights High School.  Javion played in the 15th Annual 804 All-Star Game on March 17 in RBC's Statesman Hall, helping the South All-Stars to a 135-131 win with nine points, four rebounds and three assists.

Richard Bland will compete as a member of NJCAA Division I for the first time during 2018-19.  The Statesmen played as Division II members for the past five years, compiling an overall record of 126-42.  Richard Bland won the 2015 NJCAA Division II National Championship, while making three National Tournament appearances in the past four years, including a Final Four finish in 2017.
