Statesmen Downed By Eastern Florida, 76-59

BRYN MAWR, PA – The Richard Bland College of William & Mary men's basketball team were downed by nationally ranked Eastern Florida State 76-59 Saturday afternoon at the Harcum College Invitational.

With a well-balanced offense, the Eastern Florida Titans managed to overcome a late fight from Richard Bland to down the Statesmen 76-59. The Statesmen fall to an overall record of 1-6, while Eastern Florida improves to 8-0 on the season.

The Statesmen opened up the scoring on Saturday with two big three-point shots from freshman guard Jordan Cross to start out with an early lead of 6-2. Eastern Florida's high powered offense quickly came back with their own answers from behind the three-point line and slowly began to pull away from the Statesmen late in the first half. At halftime, the Statesmen found themselves behind 37-21. Eastern Florida came out hot in the second half leading by as many as 30 points. A late second-half effort from the Statesmen led by freshman Javion Patterson and Cross brought Richard Bland within 12 points of Eastern Florida with four minutes left in the competition. The Titans proved to be resilient and slowed the charge by the Statesmen to close the game out.
