Men's Basketball Fall To Brunswick, 86-76

BOLIVIA, NC -- The Richard Bland College of William & Mary men's basketball team fell to the Brunswick Community College Dolphins by a score of 86-76 on Saturday, January 26.

The Statesmen fall to 5-12 on the season and 0-5 in the conference. The Dolphins improved to 17-5 and 3-3 in the conference. Richard Bland will host conference opponent Cape Fear on Wednesday, January 30 for a 7 pm tipoff. 

Richard Bland started off to an early lead in Saturday's game with a three-pointer by sophomore Ryan Jones. The Dolphins regained the lead with ten minutes remaining in the first half with a score of 17-14. The Statesmen closed the first half with a lead of 34-31. 

The second half opened up with Jones hitting another three to bring the score to 37-31. That would be the largest lead of the game for the Statesmen. After a quick turnover by the Statesmen, the Dolphins scored an easy transition layup to take the lead with 16 minutes remaining in the second half. The Statesmen would lead for the last time by a score of 59-58 at the eight-minute mark in the second half. After a foul by the Statesmen and three straight turnovers, the Dolphins would lead by nine points with six minutes remaining. Brunswick would hold on to their lead the rest of the game making important free throws down the stretch to seal their victory over the Statesmen.
