Statesmen Basketball Adds Bo Jones to Staff

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – Head Men's Basketball Coach Andrew Lacey has announced longtime coach and former VCU standout Bo Jones as a new assistant coach at Richard Bland College of William & Mary.

When it comes to basketball experience, Jones has done it all.  From a player to a coach to a player development director, Jones is well-versed in the sport. Jones most recently served as the player development director for Assist Student-Athletes Recruiting Services where he was responsible for creating and implementing development plans for student-athlete academic and social needs. He also developed and monitored conditioning and training programs.

Jones has extensive coaching experience that includes the Richmond Flames Semi-Professional Women's Team, Richmond Elite, Team Richmond-Garner Road, and Huguenot High School.

Jones may be most remembered from his playing days at Virginia Commonwealth University.  As a four-year starter for the Rams, he finished his career with more than 1,300 points and was named to the All-Conference Team four years. He held VCU school records for most three-point field goals made in a game, career free throw percentage, and most points scored in the Siegel Center.  Following VCU Jones played professionally in Europe, Canada, and in the IBL for 10 seasons.

"Richard Bland Basketball is thrilled to add Coach Jones to the staff," said Lacey. "He brings a wealth of basketball experience at all levels that our players will greatly benefit from. His ability to develop the whole player will be key to help the RBC program grow in the right direction."

Jones's father, Bo Jones Sr., coached the Huguenot High School Boys' Basketball team, in Richmond, VA, for over 35 years.
