Statement Win for Men's Basketball

BRYN MAWR, PA -- Coming off a tough loss on Friday, the Richard Bland College men's basketball team came out and executed in a strong win on Saturday over Harford Community College, 94-87.

With this victory, the team is now 3-3 for the 2019-20 season.  They will have the next week off as they do not play again until next Saturday, November 16, for a matchup against Hagerstown Community College at 3:30 pm.

Saturday's game saw the Statesmen faceoff against Harford Community College out of Maryland.  Opening up the game the teams matched each other basket for basket as neither team could gain much of a lead over the other.  Going into the halftime, RBC led the Fighting Owls by 1 point, 47-46.  As the second half started, the two teams played just as hard as the first half to similar results.  That is, however, until the Statesmen locked in and executed several key possessions on both ends of the court to secure baskets and stops.  Harford could not match Bland's intensity at the end and would not be able to overcome the late Statesmen push.

Three players for Richard Bland today scored over 15 points.  Corbin Slayton scored 22 points, Kenneth Southerland scored 16, and Darius Jones had 16 points as well.
