SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College of William and Mary Men's Basketball team moves to 1-0 overall after their first game of the 2021-22 season.
The men's basketball team traveled to Harford Community College in Bel Air, Maryland for a nonconference matchup.
The Fighting Owls took the lead off the tip-off, but the Statesmen fired back quickly on a layup by Kelby Saunders Jr. and a free throw by Kevon West to gain the lead and would never look back. The Statesmen led 37-27 at halftime and would go on to defeat Harford, 73-47 at the final buzzer.
The Statesmen were led by sophomore Lance Monterio with 27 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 steals. Kaleb Coleman pitched in with 9 points and 5 rebounds. Kelby Saunders Jr. chipped in with 8 points, and Nathaniel Lacey had 7 points for the Statesmen.
Richard Bland men's basketball next hosts Monroe College on Friday November 5th at 8pm for their first game of the Statesmen Classic.
