Richard Bland Runners-Up At Region X Fall Championships

DUNCAN, S.C. -- Richard Bland posted a 36-hole team score of 310-298--608 to finish second among eight teams at the NJCAA Region X Men's Golf Fall Championships November 5-6 at the River Falls Plantation golf course in Duncan, South Carolina. Freshman Frankie Lin/Kaohsiung City, Taiwan led the Statesmen with his two-day score of 75-69--144, earning medalist honors among 47 golfers with a par on the third hole of a three-way playoff at the par 72, 6,560-yard layout. Spartanburg Methodist (S.C.) College won the event with its 291-297--588.

Lin won the playoff against Spartanburg Methodist teammates Zachary Herold (74-70) and Brandon Hill (71-73), as each of the three golfers posted pars on the first two playoff holes, before Lin parred the third extra hole and the other two each bogeyed. Lin tied for the lowest round of the tournament with his three-under par 69 on the final day.

Lin was followed by sophomore Sam Smith/Chesterfield (79-75--154, t-12th), as well as freshmen Garrett Larson/Gainesville (77-78--155, 16th), Sebastian Reetze/Bad Salzdetfurth, Germany (79-77--156, 17th) and Justin Cranford/Lakeland, Fla. (84-77--161, t-22nd).

Richard Bland completed its fall portion of the 2016-17 schedule at the Region X Fall Championships in South Carolina.
