Richard Bland Freshman Frankie Lin Earns Medalist Honors

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Richard Bland College freshman men's golf standout Frankie Lin/Kaohsiung City, Taiwan posted a 36-hole score of 75-69--144 to claim medalist honors among 34 individuals at the Wake Tech Eagles' Cup Men's Golf Tournament Saturday and Sunday at the Eagle Ridge Golf Club in Raleigh, North Carolina.  Lin birdied two of his last three holes for the victory at the par 71, 6,904-yard layout.

It was the second-straight individual win for Lin, who also won the NJCAA Region X Men's Golf Fall Championship last November 5-6 at the River Falls Plantation golf course in Duncan, South Carolina.  Ironically, he posted an identical score, 75-69--144, last fall.

The Statesmen competed with three individuals at the event, as Lin was followed by sophomores Sam Smith/Chesterfield (77-79--156) and Zack Almarode/Hendersonville, Tennessee (96-92--188).

Richard Bland will play again at the Central Carolina (N.C.) Community College Cougar Classic April 3-4 at the Anderson Creek Golf Course in Spring Lake, North Carolina.
