Richard Bland Competes At 68th VSGA Intercollegiate Championship

RICHMOND, Va. -- Richard Bland College sophomore men's golf standout Frankie Lin/Kaohsiung City, Taiwan posted a 36-hole score of 72-75--147 to finish in a tie for 12th place individually at the 68th Virginia State Golf Association (VSGA) Intercollegiate Championship Monday and Tuesday at the Stonehenge Golf & Country Club in Richmond.  The Statesmen competed with three individuals at the 18-team, 101-player event featuring NCAA Division II and III, as well as USCAA member schools from the Commonwealth.

Lin was followed closely by freshmen twins Matthew Hemstock/Midlothian (75-74--149, T-19th) and Alexander Hemstock/Midlothian (76-79--155, T-51st).  Matthew Hemstock posted his collegiate-best for both 18 holes (74) and 36 holes (149).  Alexander Hemstock posted his collegiate-best for 36 holes (155) and equaled his collegiate-best for 18 holes (76).  Stonehenge G&CC played to par 71, 6,660 yards on day one, before playing to par 71, 6,725 yards on day two.

Virginia Wesleyan University won the tournament with its 289-303--592, while Damian Beasley of Ferrum College was the individual medalist with his 69-68--137.

Richard Bland completed its 2017 fall campaign with its competition at this year's VSGA Intercollegiate Championship.
