Petersburg, VA, September 8, 2013- Richard Bland (2-2) overcame an early Virginia Western goal to defeat the visitors 3-2. The Statesmen's first goal came at the 16 minute mark in the first half by Joseph Gay assisted by Marcus Carter to go into the half knotted at one.

Richard Bland scored again early in the second half with 36 minutes remaining off of a goal by Maxwell Chambers from a Daniel Winfield assist. Virginia Western scored a goal of their own three minutes later to even the match.

The final goal was scored by Carleton Anderson who was unassisted and proved to be the winning goal for the Statesmen. The Statesmen even their record after four games, their next game will be on the road at Wake Technical Community College the start time is scheduled for 8:15 p.m.
