Petersburg, VA, September 24, 2013- Cape Fear Community College kept the scoreboard operators on their toes, scoring the first goal of the match within the first ten seconds. Their lead grew throughout the first half and they held on to defeat the Statesmen 4-1 at Statesman Field.
The Statesmen were able to fight back and produce a glimpse of offense when Marcus Carter scored from and assist by Camille El-Baba, who left the game due to injury in the first half. Richard Bland received a great amount of support from the crowd throughout the entire match. "It was great to see the students and faculty involved and supporting us, we really appreciate their presence", said Head Coach Matt Weiler.
The Statesmen will try to avenge today's result when they face the Sea Devils again on Saturday, September 28, 2013 for a 2 p.m. match in Wilmington, NC.
