EAGLES DOWN STATESMEN

PETERSBURG, Va. – The Richard Bland Statesmen soccer team fell short in a 3-1 decision against Wake Tech CC on Sunday afternoon. The loss drops the Statesmen to 4-9 on the season while the Eagles improve to 6-7 with the victory.

Richard Bland scored first with an unassisted goal from Godfred Obed-Baisel to help lead the Statesmen over the Eagles, 1-0 at the 30 minute mark in the first half.

RBC's defense help earned the Statesmen seven saves on the game to Wake Tech's six as the Statesmen held the Eagles scoreless in the first half taking the momentum into the second half.

However, the momentum would be shifted in favor of the Eagles as they scored all three goals, two unassisted in the second half to secure the victory, 3-1 over the Statesmen.

The Statesmen return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 21 when they host Cape Fear Community College. The match-up kicks off at 3:30 p.m.
