SEA DEVILS EDGE STATESMEN

PETERSBURG, Va. – The Richard Bland soccer team suffered a 3-2 setback to the Sea Devils of Cape Fear Community College on Tuesday afternoon. The loss drops the Statesmen to 4-10 on the season while the Sea Devils improve to 8-9 on the year.

The Statesmen had 16 shots in the contest, nine of which were on goal but were unable to find the net as Cape Fear CC had 18 shots, ten on goal in the victory.

Godfred Obed-Baisel put the Statesmen on the board first but the Sea Devils would come back to score moments later.

Baisel scored the Statesmen final point of the game off of Kevin Fredriksson's assist to take a 2-1 lead.

However, penalties would hurt RBC as Cape Fear scored off a penalty kick to tie the game again with under ten minutes left. The Sea Devils would go on to score again off a free kick to secure the 3-2 victory.

The Statesmen will wrap up their 2014 season on Friday, Oct. 24th when they travel to Louisburg College. The match-up is set to begin at 4 p.m.
