OBED-BASIEL EARNS REGION X MEN’S SOCCER HONOR

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Region X in conjunction with the Region X head men's soccer coaches announced the Region X Men's Soccer Player, Rookie and Coach of the Year honorees on Monday afternoon. Richard Bland's Godfred Obed-Baisel earned the nod for Honorable Mention.

Obed-Baisel made a name for himself towards the end of the season when he scored his 17th goal against Cape Fear on Oct. 21st. He would finish the season with 21 goals in just 18 games, setting a school record for scoring the most goals in a single-season as a player and as a freshman.

His top performance was a four-goal scoring outing against conference foe, USC Lancaster to help guide his team reach the first round of the Region X tournament for the first time in program history.

The Statesmen ended their season on Oct. 29th in a 5-2 decision to the 2014 Region X Men's Soccer Champions, Louisburg College.
