FREDRIKSSON EARNS SCHOLARSHIP TO ATTEND DOMINICAN COLLEGE

PETERSBURG, Va. – 6'3'' freshman forward, Kevin Fredriksson made school history as he has become the first soccer player to earn a athletic scholarship to Division II,  Dominican College.

The Orebro, Sweden native, is the first international student-athlete ever to attend Richard Bland College.

"It feels good, I'm very happy to receive this opportunity," stated Fredriksson. "I would like to thank Richard Bland College and my coach Eduardo de Souza, everyone treated me well and took care of me."

"I came here alone, with no family and no friends but I am leaving here with friends and a family in my teammates, coaches and RBC staff."

Dominican College is a four-year institution that sponsors 12 intercollegiate sports (men's and women's soccer, women's volleyball, women's cross country, men's golf, men's and women's basketball, baseball, softball, men's and women's lacrosse and women's track and field), which compete for championships at the NCAA Division II level.

Located in Orangeburg, New York, the Chargers is also a member of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) a conference comprised of 13 schools from New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Delaware and Pennsylvania and the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC).  Their men's lacrosse program is an affiliate member of the East Coast Conference (ECC).

The men's soccer program received the school's first bid to the NCAA Tournament in 2005 and made a return appearance in 2006. Fredriksson is hopeful that he will be a contributor to the Chargers success next season.

Fredriksson added, "I am looking forward to playing a lot, I still have three more years left to play."

"The men's soccer program is really good, they were ranked top 20 in the country and they finished second in the conference."

Richard Bland College Athletics would like to wish Kevin Fredriksson all the best and good luck on his new journey!
