RBC STUDENT-ATHLETES SHOW PRIDE THROUGH COMMUNITY SERVICE EFFORTS

PETERSBURG, Va. – Several Richard Bland College men's soccer players participated in a highway cleanup on a one mile section near the campus of Richard Bland on Friday afternoon.

 

Richard Bland student-athletes participate in a wide range of community service and engagement projects over the course of the year.

 

The newly established Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will organize events with head men's soccer coach and Life Skills Coordinator, Eduardo De Souza such as campus clean-up, working with local elementary, middle and high schools, establishing canned food drives, assisting with Student-Athlete Banquet and other promotional events during the sport seasons.

 

The road-side clean-up is one of many community service projects the student-athletes took on this year.

 

"Today the student-athletes put together a teamwork effort with the Director of Property Management in Erik Kondzielawa and his crew, said Coach de Souza. "All of the student-athletes are learning that this type of services that are important not only for our institution but for our society."
