MEN’S SOCCER INKS FIVE SIGNING CLASS

PETERSBURG, Va. - Head Coach Eduardo de Souza and the Statesmen men's soccer program have announced the signing of six student-athletes to the 2015 signing class on Saturday.

 

"Our staff is excited to bring in such a talented signing class," said de Souza. "I'm looking forward to seeing dedication and commitment these guys have to build a championship program here. They will bring depth at all positions and can lead us to our goals of winning a Region X title."

 

Richard Bland has signed midfielders Manuel Coca, Jose Martinez, forward Abdurazk Abdullaf, full back Calvin Stanford and right back Sahir Jovel.

 

The 2015 signing class consists of some of the top-talent from the northern Virginia area and will look to make an impact from the moment they arrive on campus.

 

Coca will join the Statesmen upon graduation from Ashby High School, the Dayton, Va., native will be counted on to solidify the midfielder position. "Coca is a strong and savvy player," said de Souza.

 

Harrisonburg, Va., native Martinez also a senior at Ashby High School will step foot on campus in the fall. "Jose has great skills and he will bring unpredictability on the final third," added de Souza.

 

Abdullaf hails from Alexandria, Va., where he attends T.C. Williams High School. "He's a very smart player and will bring experience and great ability on the ball."

 

Jovel rounds out the list of signees for the Statesmen soccer program. The Alexandria, Va., native attends Patriot High School with the hopes of adding speed and athleticism to the Statesmen roster.
